OTUS is built privacy-first. The short version: we collect nothing. The app has no account system, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no servers of our own. Your data syncs through your personal iCloud — Apple’s service, your account — which we cannot read.
Your data
Everything OTUS knows lives on your iPhone and, when iCloud is enabled on your device, syncs to your private iCloud database so a new phone picks up right where you left off:
- Your alien’s name and appearance
- Focus session history, streaks, and stardust balance
- Planet decorations and galaxy progress
- App preferences (notification times, toggles)
The sync happens entirely between your device and your personal iCloud account — we have no copy and no way to access it. Deleting the app removes the local data; the iCloud copy can be removed in Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → OTUS. Turning iCloud off for OTUS keeps everything working, local-only.
Screen Time (Deep Focus)
Deep Focus uses Apple’s Family Controls / Screen Time technology to block apps during a focus mission. This permission is processed entirely by iOS. By Apple’s design, the apps you choose to block are opaque tokens to us — OTUS never learns which apps you use or block, and that information never leaves your device.
Purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We receive no payment details, no name, no address. Purchase receipts are verified on-device.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device (session completion, streak reminders). There is no push-notification server.
Analytics
OTUS contains no analytics or telemetry SDKs. The only usage information we ever see is Apple’s own aggregated, anonymized App Store statistics from users who have opted in to sharing analytics with developers — this is controlled by your iOS settings, not by OTUS.
Children
OTUS does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If a future version of OTUS ever changes any of the above, this policy will be updated first and the change will be clearly announced in the app’s release notes.
