MUUKA

Who we are

MUUKA is published by Visioina Oy (Business ID 3352691-4, Espoo, Finland), which is the data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Contact: info@visioina.com.

MUUKA is built privacy-first. The short version: we collect nothing. The app has no account system, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no servers of our own. Your data syncs through your personal iCloud — Apple’s service, your account — which we cannot read.

Your data

Everything MUUKA knows lives on your iPhone and, when iCloud is enabled on your device, syncs to your private iCloud database so a new phone picks up right where you left off:

App preferences — notification times, break length, the toggles in Settings — stay on each device and are not synced.

The sync happens entirely between your device and your personal iCloud account — we have no copy and no way to access it. Deleting the app removes the local data; the iCloud copy can be removed in Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → MUUKA.

Because your galaxy lives in iCloud, it goes where your iCloud goes. Switching MUUKA off under Settings → Apple Account → iCloud, or signing out of iCloud altogether, asks iOS to remove the app’s iCloud data from that device — so MUUKA opens empty and tells you on screen where your galaxy is. Nothing is deleted from iCloud. Switch MUUKA back on, or sign back in, and everything returns.

MUUKA does not need iCloud to run: with no iCloud account it works normally and keeps everything on that device. But if your galaxy is already in iCloud, that is where it stays.

Screen Time (Deep Space)

Deep Space uses Apple’s Family Controls / Screen Time technology to block apps during a focus mission. This permission is processed entirely by iOS. By Apple’s design, the apps you choose to block are opaque tokens to us — MUUKA never learns which apps you use or block, and that information never leaves your device.

Purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We receive no payment details, no name, no address. Purchase receipts are verified on-device.

Widgets

The widgets are drawn from a small record MUUKA writes into a storage area shared with them on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the widgets have no way of their own to reach the internet — they can only show what the app last told them.

Worth knowing before you add one: a Lock Screen widget is visible without unlocking, so your streak and how much of today’s goal is done can be read by anyone who picks up your phone. The Home Screen ones need the phone unlocked like any other app. Removing a widget removes what it was showing with it.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device: a mission finishing, a warning when you wander off mid-mission and a notice if the stardust was dropped, a break ending, a daily reminder at a time you choose, a streak reminder at 20:00 on days your streak is at risk, and — with MUUKA Pro — a notice when an Autopilot Mission starts and when it ends. There is no push-notification server of ours. The only pushes MUUKA receives are Apple’s own silent iCloud sync signals, which carry no content.

Analytics

MUUKA contains no analytics or telemetry SDKs. The only usage information we ever see is Apple’s own aggregated, anonymized App Store statistics from users who have opted in to sharing analytics with developers — this is controlled by your iOS settings, not by MUUKA.

AI

MUUKA has no AI features, and nothing you do in it is sent to an AI service. Your sessions, streaks, tags and galaxy stay on your device and, if you switch on iCloud, in your own private iCloud database, which only you can open. We never hold a copy, so there is nothing of yours for us or anyone else to train on.

AI tools are used in our own work, to help write MUUKA’s code and writing. That happens on our own machines, before a release, and your data plays no part in it.

Children

MUUKA does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Retention & deletion

We hold nothing, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep MUUKA installed: deleting the app removes the local copy immediately, and the iCloud copy is removed in Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → MUUKA. We set no expiry on your galaxy — your streaks and stardust are yours to keep until you delete them.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to hand over, correct, or erase on request. The data MUUKA creates stays on your own device and in your own iCloud account, both under your control — delete the app to remove the local copy, and manage the iCloud copy in Settings → Apple Account → iCloud. You may contact us at any time with a question or a complaint, and you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority (in Finland, the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman).

Changes

If a future version of MUUKA ever changes any of the above, this policy will be updated first and the change will be clearly announced in the app’s release notes.
