How do I earn stardust?
Three things add up:
- 100 stardust for every focused minute — the base
- +20% for finishing the full timer
- +5% for each streak day, up to +50% at a ten-day streak
Both bonuses are a percentage of the base, and both apply to every mission you finish. So a 50-minute mission on a six-day streak pays 5,000 + 1,000 + 1,500 = 7,500 stardust.
What if I land early or leave the app?
Tap Land early and Muuka keeps half of the stardust collected so far, with no bonuses. Wander into another app in Normal mode and don’t come back within 30 seconds, and the whole lot is dropped.
Either way, the minutes you did focus still count toward your daily 25 and your lifetime total — stardust is what you lose, never your progress.
Is MUUKA free?
Yes — and the free version is the whole adventure, not a demo: focus missions from 5 minutes to 2 hours, full stardust earning, streaks, decorations, new planets, sharing, and Deep Space that blocks all distracting apps. No ads ever. MUUKA Pro (€2.99/month or €25.99/year) adds the power-ups: choose which apps get blocked, Autopilot Missions that launch on their own, missions up to 8 hours, focus tags, your timer in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen, the exclusive Cosmic skin, your pick of each planet’s style, and the Tea Saucer and Cosmic saucer rides.
What breaks a focus mission?
In Normal mode, switching to another app starts a 30-second countdown — come back in time or the stardust is dropped. Locking your phone is always fine. Landing early on purpose is treated more kindly: see above.
What is Deep Space?
Deep Space uses Apple’s Screen Time to actually block apps during your session. The free version blocks all distracting apps; MUUKA Pro lets you choose which ones. It asks for the Screen Time permission when first used.
Can I bypass Deep Space?
No — the block screen has no escape button. Ending the mission early (and dropping the stardust) is the only way out. Please don’t switch off MUUKA’s Screen Time permission in the Settings app: that disables Deep Space entirely.
An app is still open during Deep Space — why?
Two things to check. First, on MUUKA Pro, Deep Space only blocks the apps you picked in Settings → Blocked apps — anything outside that selection stays available. The free version blocks every categorised app, so this only applies to Pro.
Second, if you recently tapped “Ignore Limit” or “15 More Minutes” on that app’s own Screen Time limit, iOS has given it a temporary pass. That pass comes from you, at the system level, and MUUKA cannot cancel it — the app stays reachable until the pass runs out. You can end it sooner in Settings → Screen Time.
Want Safari blocked too?
Ticking every category in Apple’s app picker does not include Safari — it sits outside them, so the only way to catch it is to search for it by name in the picker and tick it there. After that Deep Space shields it like anything else.
That picker is Apple’s, not ours, and it hands back a sealed selection: MUUKA knows how many apps you chose and nothing about which ones.
How long can a focus mission be?
5 minutes to 2 hours in the free version. MUUKA Pro unlocks missions up to 8 hours.
What is an Autopilot Mission?
A Deep Space mission that starts by itself at a time you set — for example every weekday at 09:00 for two hours. Pro only: Settings → MUUKA Pro → Autopilot Missions, up to five at a time.
At the set time the apps you chose are blocked and Muuka collects stardust until the time is up, whether or not you touch the phone. You get a notification at the start and the end; open MUUKA afterwards to collect, or during to watch the timer. Opening it once during the mission also puts the timer in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen — until then Muuka works quietly in the background.
To skip one day, tap Skip on the Focus tab. To end early, tap Land early and keep half the stardust.
What are focus tags?
A Pro extra, and off until you switch it on: Settings → MUUKA Pro → Ask for a tag. After that Muuka asks what each mission is for, just before it starts — one tap on a tag, or Skip. You can keep up to ten, named however you like, and the Missions screen then shows where the hours actually went.
Renaming a tag renames it everywhere, on missions you finished weeks ago included. Putting one away frees its slot without touching your history: the missions wearing it keep the name.
Where can I see how much I have focused?
The Missions screen, on the Streaks tab — it is free, and it summarises a day, a week, a month or a year: time focused, stardust earned, how many missions you started and how many you finished. Minutes count even when a mission was given up; only the stardust is lost. With Pro, it also breaks the time down by tag.
Is there a widget?
Three, and they are all free.
On the Home Screen, a small one — Muuka inside a ring, with your comet and your streak above him — and a medium one that adds this week’s seven days and, with Pro, when your next Autopilot Mission starts. On the Lock Screen, a circle: one of the small round widgets that sit in a row under the clock, holding the comet, the ring and the streak day count.
The ring is today’s 25 minutes filling up. While a mission is running it becomes the mission instead, and the time left counts down on its own; a break does the same.
To add one to the Home Screen, hold down an empty part of it, tap + at the top and look for MUUKA. For the Lock Screen, hold down the Lock Screen, choose to customise it, and tap the row under the clock.
Why is he called Muuka?
Muukalainen is Finnish for alien. Muuka is the small, friendly version of it — the nickname an alien earns once he’s yours. He crash-landed in your pocket, so he got a name from where he landed: Visioina is a Finnish studio, and a Finnish name for our alien felt like the obvious thing to do.
How do streaks work?
Focus at least 25 minutes in a day and that day qualifies. Consecutive qualified days keep your comet burning. Streak freezes (bought with stardust) automatically protect the streak on a missed day.
If a day is running out with your streak still at risk, Muuka says so at 20:00 — only on those days, and only while there is a streak to lose. Switch it off under Settings → Notifications → Streak reminder.
What can I spend stardust on?
Decorations for your planets — moons, stars, rings, comets, auroras, volcanoes, even a black hole — plus outfits for Muuka, streak freezes, new planets, and more.
What are outfits?
Things Muuka wears, bought with stardust — starting at 25,000 for a bow. He wears one from each of four places at a time: something at the neck, something over the eyes, something on his head, and a halo — so a scarf, a masque and a crown go together while a crown and a cap do not.
I bought the Specs skin — do I get the glasses as an outfit?
No. They look alike but they are different drawings: the outfit shades are a mirrored visor where Summer’s are flat black, and the outfit specs are gold where the Specs skin’s are grey. Buying the face pays for the face.
Are there rides money can’t buy?
Yes. The shop has an Earned rides shelf, and nothing on it has a price. Each ride there opens when your lifetime focus reaches the hours marked on it, starting with the Cracked Eggshell at 25 hours. They never go on sale, and the shelf shows how many hours you have left.
Do I need iCloud?
Only to sync between devices. Without an iCloud account MUUKA runs perfectly well and keeps everything on that iPhone.
For your galaxy to follow you to another device, be signed in to iCloud with MUUKA switched on under Settings → your name → iCloud → Saved to iCloud → See All.
We sync through your own iCloud rather than servers of ours, so that we never hold a copy of anything. That’s why, once your galaxy is in iCloud, that is where it lives — it follows your iCloud rather than the phone. Switch MUUKA off there, or sign out of iCloud, and iOS removes the app’s iCloud data from that device: MUUKA opens empty and tells you on screen where your galaxy is.
Switching it off does not move your galaxy back onto the phone. It only puts it out of reach from that device. Nothing is lost — switch it back on, or sign back in, and everything comes home.
Your settings — reminder time, break length, whether Muuka asks for a tag — live on each device rather than in iCloud, so a new phone starts with the defaults.
Can I start over?
Yes — Settings → Start over, at the very bottom. It erases your alien, stardust, streak, planets, missions, outfits and tags, on every device signed in to your iCloud, and cannot be undone.
Anything you paid for is kept: Pro, skins, saucers and the rides you bought all come back with Restore Purchases.
Two things do not come back. Stardust is spent inside the app, so packs you bought cannot be restored — and neither can outfits, which are paid for in stardust rather than money. And the rides you earned — the Cracked Eggshell, the Viking Longship and the rest — are unlocked by your lifetime focused hours, so they go with the history that earned them. Focus those hours again and they come back the same way they did the first time.
Deleting the app is not the same thing, as long as iCloud is on: with MUUKA switched on under Settings → your name → iCloud, your galaxy is kept there and comes straight back when you reinstall.
Without iCloud there is nothing to come back from. Everything lives on that one device, so deleting the app erases it for good — there is no copy anywhere else, not even with us.
What happens when I get a new iPhone?
Your galaxy travels with you: progress (streaks, stardust, planets, your alien) syncs through your personal iCloud, so a new iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account picks it up automatically — provided MUUKA was switched on for iCloud on your old phone, which is what put your galaxy there, and is switched on again on the new one. For paid items, tap Restore purchases in the shop or Settings.
How do I cancel MUUKA Pro?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → MUUKA Pro → Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the paid period.
After that, the cosmetics that come with Pro — the Cosmic skin, the Tea Saucer and the Cosmic saucer — go back to the shop, and Muuka puts on the most recent thing you bought instead. Anything you bought outright is yours: skins, saucers and rides, along with the rides you earned with focused hours, your planets, their decorations, your outfits and your stardust.
Your focus tags stay too, and so does everything you tagged — MUUKA simply stops asking before a mission. Subscribe again and they are where you left them.
Why doesn’t the timer appear in the Dynamic Island?
The Live Activity timer (Lock Screen & Dynamic Island) is a MUUKA Pro feature, and the Dynamic Island itself requires an iPhone 14 Pro or newer.
Is MUUKA made with AI?
There is no AI in the finished app. No model, no assistant, no AI service it talks to — nothing in it for an AI to read, and no AI for it to send anything to.
MUUKA is human-made, with help. Parts of its code and parts of its writing began as drafts from AI tools, and every one of them was read, argued with and rewritten before those parts shipped. Nothing reaches you that a human has not decided to keep.
The artwork is ours. Muuka, his skins, the planets, the decorations and every ride are original: none came out of an image generator, and none was bought from a stock library. We wrote our own drawing tools to make them — our own code composes the shapes, curves, colours and surfaces and renders the finished art, so a drawing can be adjusted by hand and remade. It is a slow way to make a spaceship, and the reason every spaceship here is ours alone.
Does the app show ads or sell my data?
Never. Your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud — we run no servers and cannot see it. See the privacy policy.
